LL1 - Community as a Catalyst: How to Mobilize People, Power, and Purpose for Nonprofit Growth | LeaderLab part 1 | generously sponsored by Givecloud
Wednesday June 11, 2025 8:30am - 10:30am MDT
Join Floyd for an incredible day of learning and inspiration. Attendees of this LeaderLab will go on a journey to build knowledge, skills and confidence, leaving with a plan for growth.

The day will be split in three parts:

Part I: “The Community Blueprint: The Four Pillars of Nonprofit Community Growth”
Community growth isn’t linear—it’s built over time through trials, transformations, and trust. In this session, Floyd will outline the Four Cs' framework, which details the elements necessary to build, sustain, and scale communities that can drive significant social impact. Attendees will learn actionable insights to create meaningful transformations within their communities and achieve long-term triumph.

Part II: “Peer to Peer Fundraising: How to Mobilize your Donors for Fundraising Success”
Discover the dynamic potential of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising to mobilize your supporters. During this second part of Floyd’s LeaderLab, you will learn how to engage your community, turn passionate advocates and board members into fundraising champions, and leverage their networks to expand your reach. You will discover the practical steps to design and launch successful campaigns that inspire action and generate significant support for your cause.

Part III :Own Your Voice: Tactics for Sparking Nonprofit Growth Through Social Media Storytelling
In today’s digital landscape, nonprofits can feel the urgency to “stand out” amidst a sea of online content. But sustainable impact doesn’t stem from outdoing the competition—it flourishes when you embrace your unique voice and tell your story in a way that resonates.
Using real-life case studies, this final section of the day will explore how organizations achieved exponential online engagement by crafting strategic stories that didn’t just raise awareness, but also resulted in tangible fundraising success. You’ll learn how to create compelling videos, foster authentic dialogue, and transform social followers into long-term advocates and donors.

Attendees will leave the LeaderLab with the confidence and knowledge needed to:
  • Create an outreach plan to mobilize supporters.
  • Take the steps to create a strategic fundraising plan to hit your goals.
  • Work thought the key ways to turn board members into your BEST fundraisers.
  • Develop the strategies for telling an engaging story of your organization and,
  • Implement techniques to recruit and motivate fundraisers to join your cause.

Thursday June 12, 2025 12:45pm - 1:45pm MDT
Story Slams are no-holds-barred competitive storytelling events.

WCFC's version will be no different.

4 competitors will take the stage and have a chance to share their best, worst or just plain weirdest fundraising story.

5 random audience members will be selected to judge each story.

You'll laugh. You'll cry. And you'll learn about the power of storytelling and how you can apply it to inspire your donors to deeply connect with your cause, give more, and stay loyal to your organisation for years to come.

*Make sure to bring a little cash with you (or your smartphone) since we’ll keep up the WCFC tradition of raising money for a soon-to-be-identified charity with a 'pass-the-hat' donation (and its virtual equivalent).

C2-1: Campaign Success Starts Here: The Proven Planning Framework for Your Next Big Fundraising Goal | Fundraising Clinic Part 1 + 2
Thursday June 12, 2025 1:50pm - 4:15pm MDT
Here’s an uncomfortable truth about capital campaigns: even well-established organizations can fall short of their goals. The difference between success and failure? Planning.

If a major campaign is on your horizon, now is the time to lay the foundation—not when you’re ready to launch. In this workshop, you’ll learn a proven planning framework built on 25+ years of frontline fundraising experience across campaigns ranging from $5M to $200M.

We’ll cover:
- The essential steps to prepare for a campaign - before you start asking
- How to avoid common pitfalls that can derail even the strongest organizations
- Why taking a “wait and see” approach during times of political and economic uncertainty is the riskiest strategy (and what to do instead)

Whether you're leading your first campaign or your fifth, you’ll walk away with the clarity, confidence, and a concrete plan to set your campaign up for success.

B4-3: Netwalk for Fundraisers 2025
Thursday June 12, 2025 3:15pm - 4:15pm MDT
Conferences are often where you meet people who often do what you do, just for another organization in another place. And you're there to advance your sector for the benefit of your employer. Which is cool.

Even career networking events are often about finding a job, or meeting people who can help you in a very linear way. They often focus on title, hierarchy and as much as we all like to talk about diversity, many gatherings are defined by their sameness of ideas.

Also, most gatherings tied to work and career happen in windowless conferences centers, and if there are windows you are trapped on the wrong side of them!

So let's just once, escape it all.

And be open to a gathering of purpose - to advance....YOU.

What will you leave with?
· New ideas from new people who can add value in your work and life
· Actual progress on your career goals and a reconnection to your purpose and value as a fundraiser
· A more articulate vision of your life path and how to move forward, faster

Warning! This is not just a walking workshop, it will challenge you to think, it will present you at times with the silence of your own thoughts and it will end with uncomfortable performance art? If you’re not open to something different, sit this one out.

Friday June 13, 2025 8:30am - 10:30am MDT
Sooner or later “shift happens” to all of us. You may have seen it coming. Or maybe it took you by surprise.

Sometimes it happens to your team, to your organization. And it can happen to your community and your country.

WS2 - Cultivation & Stewardship: The Power Couple of Fundraising | workshop part 1 | generously sponsored by CanadaHelps
Friday June 13, 2025 8:30am - 10:30am MDT
This dynamic half-day workshop led by two accomplished leaders will explore the critical balance between thanking donors meaningfully and strategically guiding them toward deeper engagement.

With a mix of strategy, storytelling, and a touch of humor, Angel and Mary make donor stewardship and cultivation exciting, effective, and actionable. Their engaging approach ensures that every nonprofit professional they work with walks away with fresh ideas and practical tools to elevate their donor relationships.

Attendees will learn practical, impactful ways to express gratitude, build trust, and move donors from one-time gifts to lasting relationships.

Participants will leave with a ready-to-implement action plan, ensuring they can put their new strategies into practice immediately.

About this powerful presenting partnership
Angel Benedict, CFRE, and Mary Saretski, CFRE, are dynamic, creative thinkers and problem solvers who have spent their careers transforming donor engagement.
Starting their journey together at the University of Alberta’s central advancement team, they quickly discovered a shared passion for building meaningful relationships and making philanthropy both impactful and fun. Since those early days, they’ve remained close colleagues—constantly bouncing ideas off each other, tackling challenges together, and pushing each other to think bigger and bolder. Simply put, they’re better together.

Angel, now the Executive Director of 880 CHED Santas Anonymous, leads with innovation and heart. Mary, as the Director of Donor & Stakeholder Relations at the Edmonton Humane Society, brings energy and strategy to connecting people with causes that matter.

Friday June 13, 2025 8:30am - 10:30am MDT
From Frazzled to Focused: Streamlining Systems for Maximum Impact, The Productivity Reset Workshop

Is this you?
You are a fundraiser and a manager. But you can’t fully focus on the important task of engaging and inspiring donors because you are stuck working through inefficient or nonexistent systems.

You want the team to meet the goals of the organization but getting there is time consuming and exhausting.

Everyone is frazzled and frustrated from constantly being in a reactive state. There doesn’t seem to be any time to pause, reflect and plan.

Everything takes longer to complete than it should.

There is a better way.

In this workshop intensive, participants will take a #tinyains approach to begin optimizing their operations to increase productivity and performance for sustainability and scale. We take a deep dive into workflows, process documentation and meeting efficiency to identify three areas where you can be efficient and productive – moving from reactive to proactive, from chaotic to calm.
At the end of the session, participants will have fundamental tools to optimize process and productivity for profit.

Learning Objectives
  • Analyze: Participants will be able to analyze their existing workflows and identify at least three areas where process documentation can improve productivity and reduce chaos.
  • Create: By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to design and propose a plan to implement efficient processes that enhance organizational sustainability and scalability, using tools learned during the session.
  • Apply: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to apply the #tinyains approach to optimize workflows and meeting efficiency in their current organizational settings, moving from reactive to proactive operations.
